Poe 1953, Pt. 4

(Continued from Poe 1953, Pt. 3)

THE HAUNT OF FEAR  20
"THUMP FUN"

EC's 6th foray into Poe was a VERY loose "adaptation", more like a "variation on a theme" really, taking its inspiration from...

     "THE TELL-TALE HEART"  (What?  AGAIN???)

This was the 5th comics version of this story (more or less), following...
Charlton's YELLOWJACKET COMICS #6 (Dec'45),
EC's THE HAUNT OF FEAR #15 [1] (May-Jun'50),
Gilberton's CLASSICS ILLUSTRATED #84 (Jun'51), and
EC's SHOCK SUSPENSTORIES #8 (Apr-May'53),
...the latter only 3 months earlier.

The artist is another one of EC's legendary line-up, Graham Ingels.  Sadly, in the wake of the anti-violence witch-hunt which all but DESTROYED the once massive, thriving comic-book industry in America, Ingels became deeply ashamed of his work in the horror genre, and never wanted to discuss it with anyone.

This was his 2nd of 2 POE adaptations.
