The story of "Isaac, Esau & Jacob" concludes with an episode that features a sequence that has NEVER been seen in the BOYS' LIFE series before, that of Jacob fighting a mysterious, powerful figure in the desert. Following this, the series appeared to go on hiatus again, for 6 straight months, from February to July 2003. During this time, 5 of the 6 months featured "Religious Emblems" installments (nothing in March, for whatever reason). On its return in August 2003, artist Anthony Castrillo put aside the overlapping panels which jutted out irregularly at the edges in favor of more "traditional" panels and gutters.
The latest version of "Joseph" began, the 9th time the material had been covered in BL, going all the way back to June 1954. This time around, Joseph's brothers were shown to have sold him to the Ishmaelite caravan, rather than considering it, only to find him missing, as in the previous 2 versions.
