Space Conquerors, 1966

(Continued from 1965)

Well, near as I can tell, Alden McWilliams takes over the art with the
March 1966 episode. There isn't one in the May'66 issue, the first time since Feb'63.  Then it's pretty dependable, until they miss both the Mar'68 and Jun'68 issues, although the latter may have been an accident, as the one intended for that month turned up out-of-sequence in Sep'68. (I'll be running it in the correct sequence when I get to 1968.)

McWilliams had done the long-running TWIN EARTHS newspaper strip, whose concept may have inspired both Gerry Anderson's DOPPLEGANGER feature film, and the "Counter-Earth" concept used in Marvel's ADAM WARLOCK series. McWilliams also did several stories for Warren's CREEPY magazine around this period, all science-fiction of course.

  1. And once again, the Space Conquerors effectively destroy a planet... and this time, they wipe out the indigenous people as well. But at least they stopped that alien tyrant!
