Poe 1968, Pt. 33

(Continued from Poe 1968, Pt. 32)

3 HISTOIRES EXTRAORDINAIRES
"LA SCARABEE D'OR"
     (w/ English Translation  /  Conclusion)

Editions Serg is a publisher in France.  In 1973, they put out a book that had been crerated in 1968, but, apparently, had somehow been sitting around for 5 years.  I decided to "file" it under its creation date, not its publication date.

This is my very 1st book from Switzerland, and although the book itself was created & published in France, I keep referring to it as "the Swiss book".

This amazing book contains heavily-illustrated versions of 3 stories...

"LA SCARABEE D'OR"
"LA CHUTE DE LA MAISON USHER"
"METZENGERSTEIN"

1st up...

"THE GOLD BUG"

This is the 8th version of the story, following...
Manuel Lainez' TIT-BITS #1991 (Aug'47),
David C. Cook's SUNDAY PIX #1-14 (May 1-July 31, 1949),
Gilberton's CLASSICS ILLUSTRATED #84 (Jun'51),
Boy Scouts Of America's BOYS' LIFE (Jul'54),
Empresa Nacional's CAVALEIRO ANDANTE #453 (Sep'60),
Sea/Novaro's TESORO DE CUENTOS CLASICOS #51 (Nov'61),  and
Thorpe & Porter's CLASSICS ILLUSTRATED #84 (Jul'62)
...the last one some 6 years earlier.

I'm splitting this up into 3 parts, just as I did with the Mick Anglo version.
