Poe 1944, Pt. 3

(Continued from Poe 1944, Pt. 2)

YELLOWJACKET COMICS  3
Famous Tales Of Terror  /  "THE PIT AND THE PENDULUM"

After skipping one issue, another Poe adaptation turned up in YELLOWJACKET COMICS #3-- the earliest comics version of this classic tale.  Once again, I imagine most people are familiar with the Roger Corman mystery-thriller, which is actually a sequel (of sorts) to the Poe original.

1 comment:

  1. This is an honest attempt to adapt the story, but it's torpedoed by the decision to color the Pit section in bright colors. Part of the power of the original was the fear that comes from being lost in a strange place in total darkness. It would have worked better colored in dark shades.
